I want a light tube in the north end of the hallway upstairs.
www.sun-dome.com one of the companies that makes them. Eric and Eric do not want to penetrate the roof because they are concerned about leaking from ice dams. So I think we could make a "periscope" and mount the light blister on the south wall, high on the roof under the eaves. It might reduce the wattage but it will mantain the roof.

I like the idea of a light tube-- especially for the winter. Putting it under the eaves should let it receive adequate sunlight since the sun is low in the winter. We will carry this to E and E, our builders.

Dad,
if we put the 'blister' under the eaves on the South wall, the tubing will have to be longer than standard and will involve some craftsmanship from Eric and Eric. Questions include:
1. can we make the 90degree turn with a mirror?
2. how can we access it for cleanout? Bugs and spiderwebs get into mine.
3. how will it affect the attic room we intend to build into the truss roof?
4. where will it be with respect to the pull down attic stairs?
5. do we even want an attic room?
